Zee5 recently released an official poster for their upcoming original movie which is titled ‘Kaagaz’. It is being billed as – ‘A True Success Story Of A Dead Man’. The movie stars Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role of Lal Bihari Mritak who fought against the law for 18 years to prove the world that he is alive. Sounds absurd right? Well the movie is based on the real life story of a farmer named Lal Bihari from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
You must be thinking what is this all about, has it happened in real life to someone? Well, the answer is yes. Just imagine the situation of a person who is alive and in front of everyone but is dead legally. Let’s talk about the source of the movie which gave the makers the inspiration to tell the story of Lal Bihari.
Lal Bihari is a farmer who was declared dead from 1975 to 1994 despite of him being alive and well. It all started when Bihari decided to visit the revenue office in Azamgarh from where he would be getting his identity proof which he required for getting his bank loan sanctioned. Upon reaching the office Bihari realised that he has officially been declared dead. After some research it was found out that Bihari’s uncle had bribed the officials to declared Bihari dead so that his uncle would get the sole rights of their ancestral land in Khalidabad.
Bihari went through several years of trauma and even organised his own funeral so that her “widowed” wife would get compensation. Bihari actually fought his case for more than 19 years and after that his death certificate was annulled. To remember this incident, he put Mritak infront of his name and now is known as Lal Bihari Mritak. To help people who are facing the same incident, he opened up a Mritak Sangh in UP to help the people.
Satish Kaushik who serves as the director of the movie felt that he was drawn towards the story and after doing lots of research about his life, Kaushik decided that the story of Lal Bihari Mritak deserves to be known by as many people as possible and he thanked Zee5 for their platform. Salma Khan also serves as the producer of the movie under the banner Salman Khan Films which only benefits the film to garner more attention. Nishant Kaushik and Vikas Malu also serves as co producers.
Kaagaz will be arriving on Zee5 and will be premiering on 7th January 2021!
