Here’s How And Why ‘V’ Is Not Your Regular Direct-To-OTT Release!

Amazon Prime Video became the pioneer in direct to digital releases when it premiered Gulabo Sitabo in June. Recently it created massive waves when it announced Nani’s 25th film V‘s release on the platform. The fact that film’s trailer has crossed 19 million views, officially the highest on Prime’s YouTube channel among several other direct releases on the platform, just proves its impact yet again.

Amazon Prime Video has come a far way since lockdown started. So much so that after many vernacular and mainstream bollywood releases on the platform, it is finally ready to give movie theatres the ultimate challenge with V, a film that will bring the audience closest to the real theatrical experience, despite being viewed on smaller screens.

Until now, whether it was Gulabo Sitabo, Penguin, Sufiyam Sujatayum, Ponmagal Vandhal or Shakuntala Devi, none of them had that kind of visual appeal that would demand a theatrical experience. But V is different, the grandeur action sequences with the amazing background score and the thrilling chase make it a perfect fit for a real theatre film.

So the question now arises that will V become the most viewed film on Amazon Prime Video when it releases on 5th September, given that it is the first of its kind to go the OTT way? Or does Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru, that will premiere on Prime on 30th October, has the potential to surpass it?
