Andor fame Diego Luna has revealed that Season 2 will feature more cameos from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). During his recent appearance at the ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024 event, the actor also discussed how the second season would change fans’ opinions about the events of Rogue One.
Apart from teasing new cameos from Rogue One, Luna also praised Tony Gilroy (showrunner) for expertly handling the sophomore entry. This is what he said:
“I can tell you, Rogue One is coming, so there will be characters there that you will recognise. There will also be cool stuff. For those who love Rogue One, this season is going to be very special. And it’s going to be fascinating to go straight to Rogue One after watching this second season, because you will see Rogue One from a different perspective, I promise you that.”
Set nearly five years before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor Season 1 explored the events of the first year. Season 2 will cover the events that occurred in the next four years. It will ramp up the pace, focusing on a three-episode arc for each of these years leading up to Rogue One. This means the final three episodes of Season 2 could lay the foundation for Rogue One, potentially ending just before Cassian meets the informant who reveals Bodhi Rook’s defection from the Empire and the Death Star’s existence.
The return of characters from Rogue One in Andor Season 2 will certainly add resonance to the tragic loss of Cassian’s Rebel group in the movie. Their sacrifice to steal the Death Star plans becomes even more impactful when we see these familiar faces again. Stay tuned for more updates on Andor Season 2.
