Blue Beetle is one of the last remnants from the DC Extended Universe, apart from Jason Momoa’s Aquaman 2. The former will hit the theatres globally in nearly two weeks despite the obstacles it is set to face upon its release. Considering the ongoing actors’ strike and the current mood of the fans towards the DCEU’s latest offerings, the odds of Blue Beetle tanking at the global box office are too significant to be ignored. Though, some people can save the upcoming Angel Manuel Soto directional.
Director and one of the CEOs of DC Studios, James Gunn, has given a positive response to Blue Beetle. Surprisingly, Zack Snyder and David Ayer have also displayed their excitement about the film on social media despite their past troubles with Warner Bros Discovery.
Gunn has watched Blue Beetle and highly enjoyed it. Though, he may be hyping the film as part of his job at DC Studios, showing his “corporate” side. However, the unexpected but highly appreciated support from both Snyder and Ayer could save the movie. This scenario seems more organic and natural compared to what we witnessed during the marketing of The Flash. Warner Bros wasted way too much money on promoting the Ezra Miller starrer, which already became controversial before its release due to the lead actor’s real-life troubles. Even Tom Cruise’s positive comments were not enough to save the film. The studio’s promotional strategy for The Flash made fans more sceptical about its quality rather than making them excited.
But that’s not the case with Blue Beetle. Apart from receiving praises from the trio of Gunn, Snyder, and Ayer, the film also has tremendous support from fans, many of whom are promoting the film on their own through the ongoing #bluebeetlebattalion social media movement.
Blue Beetle will arrive in theatres worldwide on August 18. It stars Xolo Mariduena, Adriana Barraza, Damian Alcazar, Susan Sarandon, George Lopez, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
