IMDb India has made public the list of the most anticipated Indian movies for the summer of 2023. These include 10 titles scheduled to release between May 1 and August 31 and were the most popular with IMDb users, as determined by the actual page views of the more than 200 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide in 2023 so far.
The first spot isn’t a surprise at all as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ fixes its position there. Still basking in the success glory of ‘Pathaan’ King Khan has kept the movie goers wanting for more. And his incredible upcoming lineup, that also includes Raj Kumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’, does not fail to satiate that.
At second place is Ranbir Kapoor’s intense gangster drama ‘Animal’ helmed by ‘Arjun Reddy’ fame Sandeep Reddy Vanga. After playing a rich, handsome and quirky character in ‘Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar’ Ranbir is all set to swing into an extremely opposite dark role for ‘Animal’. His versatility is unquestionable given his past credits and it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.
Onto the third position we have Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’ starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan and Sunny Singh in pivotal roles. The film has been in talks for both good and bad reasons and that’s what raises the curiosity as to how it’s going to turn out eventually. Also, before its theatrical release ’Adipurush’ is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival 2023.
It’s interesting to see films like ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Chatrapathi’ taking the fourth and fifth spot respectively above Ajay Devgn’s ’Maidaan’ that is at the sixth place in the list. Despite Ajay having a greater star power and ‘Maidaan’ being one of his most awaited titles it’s a little unusual to see it below ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Chatrapathi’.
Next up at number seven is Dharma Productions’ ‘Yodha’ starring Siddharth Malhotra, Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna. Siddharth Malhotra is once again set to star as a soldier in this one and though the makers have been silent about the film till now its quite amazing that it still made it to the top 10 most anticipated film for the summer of 2023.
Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh led Karan Johar directorial ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ grabs the eighth spot. Now this one’s been quite popular since its announcement and it’s no surprise it’s on the list. The last two positions are taken up by two Telugu films. At number nine we have Prashanth Verma’s ‘Hanu-Man’ and on ten it’s Chaitanya Akkineni’s ‘Custody’.
