Here’s What Ajay Devgn Has to Say About Indian OTT Shows

It seems the Indian audience will witness a lot of Ajay Devgn this year. The Bollywood star is ready to go big in 2022 with a total of seven future releases and a couple of OTT shows under his belly. The Great Indian Murder starring Harshad Mehta fame Pratik Gandhi and Richa Chaddha, will come out on February 4 on Disney+ Hotstar under his production house. Also, he is all set to make his much-anticipated OTT debut with the Rudra series in March.

In a recent interview, Devgn responded to his take on Indian OTT: “We are maturing and it always takes time to get better at a certain medium. Series have a different format of screenplay, which the West has been doing for a while. I think the earthiness, the Indian characteristics, the Indian culture is very vast, so we can eventually go much beyond the international shows with the kind of stories we want to tell,” the actor replied.

There is no doubt that the present growing reach of OTT platforms among Indian households is attracting the attention of Bollywood producers. With the ongoing COVID pandemic, not every production house can afford a theatrical release these days. That’s why dispatching movies on streaming platforms is considered a safe option in the present time. Plus, a majority of OTT releases deliver decent profits to the makers.

Apart from his future OTT projects, Devgn has several notable projects for his fans this year. The actor is starring in Runway 34, Maidaan, Thank God, and Bholaa, scheduled for a theatrical release in 2022. Additionally, we cannot ignore his extended cameo appearances in projects like RRR, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Cirkus.
