Maddock Films took to social media today to announce the commencement of shoot for the much awaited sequel ‘Stree 2’. The filming has now begun and will be set in Madhya Pradesh’s Chanderi where the first part was based.
In the launched video the famous tagline from the superhit film ‘Stree’ that goes like “O Stree Kal Aana” is shown written on a wall with the year 2018, that’s when the film released. In the next slide one more line gets added that says, “Raksha Karna” (asking for protection) with the year 2024, that’s when ‘Stree 2’ will release.
But it’s the last slide that gives a hint of what ‘Stree 2’ is going to be about. It says, “Sarkate Ka Aatank” which translates to “terror of the headless man”. So supposedly this time there will be a new supernatural being that will haunt the residents of Chanderi. How Stree comes into play will be interesting to see, will she come to protect or is there something more at play here.
Written by Niren Bhatt and directed by Amar Kaushik, ‘Stree 2’ will have Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee returning to reprise their roles.
‘Stree’ came out in 2018 and was a massive blockbuster with huge critical acclaim as well. The film was appreciated for its direction, dialogues, screenplay, background score, storyline, performances and the social message. With such immense success of the film, the sequel has been long and eagerly awaited.
‘Stree 2’ is the next part of Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe that began with ‘Stree’ and also includes ‘Roohi’ and ‘Bhediya’. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande, ‘Stree 2’ is slated to release in cinemas in August 2024.
