Netflix has today unveiled the release date for the third chapter of its popular teen rom-com ‘Heartstopper’ and what makes this date announcement special is the exclusive snippet of Billie Eilish’s ‘Birds of a Feather’ from her upcoming album Hit Me Hard and Soft. All 8 episodes of ‘Heartstopper’ season 3 will premiere globally on Netflix on 3rd October, 2024.
‘Heartstopper’ season 2 ended with Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) further solidifying their feelings for each other in a deeply emotional conversation. While it was a very vulnerable and honest heart-to-heart chat, there were things left unsaid.
Also by the end of season 2 Nick had started to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3 as per series creator and writer Alice Oseman.
The Season 3 premiere, suitably titled “Love,” picks up with Charlie eager to tell Nick that he loves him and Nick holding on to something important he has to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges. As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties, and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.
‘Heartstopper’ season 3 has some new cast members joining and this includes Hayley Atwell (‘Agent Carter’, ‘Black Mirror’) who will play Nick’s aunt, Diane, who takes Nick on a summer holiday to Menorca and offers him some toto the realtionship advice. Eddie Marsan (‘Ray Donovan’, ‘Fair Play’) will portray beloved graphic novel character Geoff, Charlie’s wise and straight-talking therapist.
Jonathan Bailey (‘Bridgerton’, ‘Crashing’) will cameo as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous classicist and Charlie’s celebrity crush. Darragh Hand will star as Michael Holden, another graphic novel character introduced in season 3.
