‘Auron Mein Kahna Dum Tha’ is an upcoming romantic saga coming from acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the lead. Everything about the above statement looks good but still the film in reality has almost no buzz.
Not that the makers aren’t promoting the film or doing all that they can to reach the audience, still it does not seem to be working their way. So what’s going wrong?
To begin with, ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ comes out as a depressing film from the looks of the promotional material. To be honest, no one looks forward to something saddening even if it’s an intense love saga that might touch one’s heart and soul. After all movies are supposed to entertain and serve as an escape route from the mundanity of life.
That brings us to our second reason why ‘Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha’ is not what people want. And that being, people in general seem to have lost interest in such deep romantic genre and want movies to have some action, comedy, thrill, mystery and masala, that lightens their mood or boggles their mind.
But many of you might not believe this and it’s completely understandable. We have plenty of examples where deep meaningful content has received appreciation from critics and public alike. On the other hand, it cannot be denied that this is more true for OTT content rather than the stuff we see in theatres.
The advent of streaming platforms have led to categorisation in people’s minds according to which they wish to visit theatres only for films with certain levels of magnanimity like ‘Kalki 28989AD’. For other not so fancy movies, they prefer waiting for their OTT debut.
Coming back to ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’, the film has a great cast and crew with some very credible world credits to their names. And it is probable that this film might find its true calling on OTT when it lands there.
