Here’s Why Avengers: Secret Wars Should Not Reboot The MCU

The rumours about Avengers: Secret Wars rebooting the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have spread across social media. This scenario resulted after Kevin Feige’s recent comments about the future of the MCU, in which he talked about keeping the ‘right’ projects with them and discarding the unwanted ones. Many believe Feige’s approach indicates that Marvel is playing the game a bit safe now.

According to some rumours, rebooting the MCU through Avengers: Secret Wars could pave the way for the returns of popular superheroes like Iron Man and Captain America. While these big names have done well for the MCU in the past, they do not guarantee that they will do the same for the superhero franchise in the future. Bringing back old superheroes will display Marvel Studios’ desperation to make everything right again. It would also force the production house to roll out more sequels, something that fans do not want these days. Instead, they prioritise original content over sequels. As per a recent survey from IndieWire, nearly 74% of Gen Z and Millennials prefer watching original content over reboots or sequels.

Since 2008, the MCU has enabled Marvel Studios to adapt plenty of popular comic books. However, many stories and characters from the comics are yet to be adapted by the studio. Marvel needs good stories for the superheroes, both the existing and the upcoming ones. The grand success of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy proves that good stories can make Marvel’s one of the most obscure superheroes immensely likable and fan-favourite.

Instead of rebooting the MCU through Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel should concentrate more on developing good, original, and compelling stories for the fans. Stay tuned for more updates.
