Seth MacFarlance’s latest comedy series, Ted, has become the most-watched show in the history of the Peacock streaming service within the first three days of its premiere. According to several reports, the show immensely benefitted from the NFL’s Super Wild Card Weekend, significantly increasing Peacock’s viewership in the last few days. In addition, the audience’s response to the show has been mostly positive. Despite being trashy and silly in every way, viewers are showering ‘Ted’ with all their love as the show has its heart in the right place, just like the previous two feature films, which starred Mark Wahlberg. Still, JioCinema is not promoting this series at all.
JioCinema is busy promoting the ongoing season of BiggBoss and the critically acclaimed HBO’s True Detective: Night Country (Season 4) series. The streaming platform’s promotional efforts for the latter entry make sense, as it has been hailed as one of the show’s best seasons. Benefitting from the outstanding acting talents of Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, Night Country currently has a ‘fresh’ Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%, based on over 70 reviews, ultimately becoming one of the highest-rated seasons in True Detective. However, it is evident that JioCinema is overmilking the ongoing Bigg Boss season. The show is immensely popular in India, which is why it does not need any more promotion.
Instead, JioCinema should dedicate some of its attention to the latest Seth MacFarlane’s Ted series. The show has received a fantastic audience response in the US. JioCinema can take advantage of this scenario to enhance its viewership by focusing on promoting the Ted series. Moreover, the show is funny, childish, and a complete LOL riot. Maybe that’s why people are loving it so much. Not every comedy project needs the element of intellect to survive; some are just fine with being stupid and fun. The franchise’s films, Ted (2012) and Ted 2 (2015), are immensely popular among people as well and have earned over $549 million and $215 million, respectively, on a global level.

Seth MacFarlane’s Ted series is the exact kind of trashy television I needed at the beginning of the new year. Silly, offensive comedy that is childishly immature. I can’t help but burst into laughter every other scene.
