Amazon Prime Video‘s The Family Man S2 was actually the most anticipated series of 2021 until its unforeseen postponement. The espionage drama was all set to go all out in its second season as there were many reasons to be excited about the show. Apart from the exciting storyline, fans were delighted to know the fact that Samantha Akkineni would be starring in the second season of the show.
There was a wave of excitement from the fans of the show as well as of the actress. But as of now, everyone has to wait a little bit more to see her Hindi debut. The rise of OTT platforms and market have attracted several of the big stars and Samantha is one of them. Recently, the casting director of the show – Mukesh Chhabra revealed why Samantha was chosen for the show.
He stated that the directors Raj & DK were keen on casting their actors and actresses who could fit into a certain quality of the role. Like with Manoj Bajpayee, he was chosen as he attains the common man look which makes the series what it is. He brings simple and subtle qualities into the role of Srikant Tiwari and fans will be delighted to see him in The Family Man S2.
On being asked why and how Samantha was chosen for the role, Chhabra revealed that, the makers wanted a surprise element in the actress whoever played the role. Since it was an important role (playing the arch nemesis of Srikant), they went to Samantha who was perfectly suited for it. To their delight, Samantha agreed to be a part of the show.
It is worth noting that the casting directors and the makers are hoping that the show gets the similar amount of love as it’s predecessor season. But after the news of postponement, no new release date for The Family Man S2 has been announced by the makers.
Amazon Prime Video is eyeing to release the show in the summer which means one can expect the show to be out in April-May 2021.
