Here’s Why Vidyut Jammwal’s Khuda Haafiz Chapter 2 Is A Pioneer Of Its Kind!

Vidyut Jammwal and Shivaleeka Oberoi starrer ‘Khuda Haafiz’ sequel has now begun filming in Mumbai. Titled as ‘Khuda Haafiz Chapter II: Agni Pariksha’, the film will be helmed by Faruk Kabir who directed the first part as well. It had a digital premiere on Disney+ Hotstar last year.

Sequels and franchises have often been seen in the film industry but it’s a new for the OTT world which has otherwise observed several seasons of various web series. In fact, ‘Khuda Haafiz’ Chapter 2, becomes a pioneer of the field as it becomes the first such Indian direct-to-OTT film to get a sequel.

This second part comes despite the fact that first one wasn’t a very huge success. As mentioned in our review of the film, ‘Khuda Haafiz’ at best is an average movie with a run-of-the-mill plot, made watchable solely because of Vidyut Jammwal’s earnest performance.

Sequels are made mostly when the previous parts turn out to be successful ventures. While ‘Khuda Haafiz’ wasn’t praised much critically, the makers seem to have gotten a good profitable deal with the streaming service backed with strong viewing numbers. And this might be the much needed push that made Chapter 2 possible.

Whatsoever, ‘Khurda Haafiz’ Chapter 2 marks a fresh beginning in the sector. It goes on to show the trust filmmakers and audience have shown in each other during the tough times of the pandemic that shook the whole film industry.

The only thing that’s puzzling is the fact that makers have kept the release format of the sequel under wraps. There is no official word on whether this Chapter 2 of ‘Khuda Haafiz’ will go for a theatrical or a digital release. And if it goes for the latter, will it be Disney+ Hotstar again or some other OTT platform that makes a more lucrative offer.

Written and directed by Faruk Kabir, ‘Khuda Haafiz Chapter II: Agni Pariksha’ will be produced by Panorama Studios’ Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.
