Here’s Why You Should Look Forward to SonyLIV’s Maharani Season 2

The eagerly anticipated second season of the political drama web series ‘Maharani’ is all set to start streaming on the SonyLIV OTT platform from 25th August onwards. And in case you are wondering whether or not you should watch the show, we give you some valid reasons about why you should look forward to watching ‘Maharani Season-2’.

Maharani Season-1

The first and the foremost reason to look forward to Maharani’s second season is the benchmark set by the opening season of the show. The series was well received by audiences and critics last year. We at Binged called it “a well-crafted chronicle of a story that needed telling.” Moreover, ‘Maharani S1’ has got an IMDb user rating of 7.7/10. Let’s see if ‘Maharani S2’ manages to surpass the critical acclaim of the first season, or who knows, even surpass it.

Subhash Kapoor

Like the first season, ‘Maharani Season-2’ has been created by Subhash Kapoor. He is the man behind giving us two of the most adeptly made Indian courtroom dramas – ‘Jolly LLB’ starring Arshad Warsi in the titular role and ‘Jolly LLB 2’ starring Akshay Kumar essaying the titular character. Now, all eyes will be on ‘Maharani S2’ and whether Subhash Kapoor will be able to recreate similar magic for the small screen yet again.

Huma Qureshi

One common thing about almost all the reviews for ‘Maharani S1’ was the earnest performance delivered by Huma Qureshi. Besides adeptly essaying the titular role of as the CM’s uneducated wife, Huma Qureshi had previously proved her acting mettle in several films such as ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Ek Thi Daayan’, ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Jolly LLB 2’, to name a few. We have high hopes that she will once again hit the right spot with her character in ‘Maharani Season-2’ as well.

Brilliant Supporting Cast

The SonyLIV series boasts of a truly ensemble cast. Besides lead actress Huma Qureshi, Soham Shah of ‘Talvar’ and ‘Tumbadd’ fame plays the role of Huma Qureshi’s husband and Bihar’s chief minister Bheema Bharti. And Amil Sial, who is known for his performances in Dibakar Banerjee’s ‘LSD: Love, Sex Aur Dhokha’ and Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Mirzapur’, plays another important character of an ambitious and aspiring CM. The season also features talented actors like Vineet Kumar, Pramod Pathak, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in important roles.

Maharani Season-2 Trailer

The official trailer for ‘Maharani Season-2’ was released earlier this month and it has set a certain level of curiosity amongst OTT audiences for the show’s release on SonyLIV on 25th August. There is a lot going around in the trailer and it would be interesting to see whether the makers will repeat the success of the first season of ‘Maharani’. We hope they do.
