Lionsgate Play, the Indian streaming arm of content giant Lionsgate and its global streaming platform, STARZ, is gearing up to release its first Indian Original show, ‘Hiccups And Hookups’. The social media handles of the streamer have just announced the release date for the comedy drama, and it is 26th November. Bollywood star Rajkummar Rao did the honours of introducing the characters of the upcoming show, courtesy he’s also a ‘Rao’, just like the primary protagonists of the show ‘Hiccups And Hookups’.
‘Hiccups And Hookups’ is the official Indian adaptation of Lionsgate’s own US show, ‘Casual’, which premiered on Hulu in the US. The Indian adaptation has been produced by Ajay Rai’s JAR Pictures, and directed by Kunal Kohli. The series boasts an exciting ensemble cast, featuring Lara Dutta and Prateik Babbar in lead roles, along with talented actors Meera Chopra, Divya Seth, Khalid Siddiqui, Meiyang Chang and Ayn Zoya, among others.
Lionsgate Play has several Indian Original shows in development at the platform, in a bid to gain a firmer foothold in the cluttered Indian OTT market. The first of these is obviously ‘Hiccups And Hookups’.
