Hiccup’s New Look: A Step Away from the Original Magic!

The first look of the fourth film of Cressida Cowell’s book, “How To Train Your Dragon” has been released.

The franchise follows Hiccup, who is training to fight dragons but ends up befriending the wounded dragon Toothless.

“How To Train Your Dragon” delighted the audience with its trilogy for many years.

But now the live-action remake of “How to Train Your Dragon” has finally revealed its take on Hiccup. Now as the audience got a glimpse of the first look, the fans are being sceptical about it a lot.

Would it do justice to the original movie?

The animated movies were a perfect blend of youthful energy, charm and determination. However, the live-action version seems to lose this essence.

The polished look of the character somehow is lacking the essence of the real character, which we have seen in the animated movie.

Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed the “How to Train Your Dragon” trilogy alongside Chris Sanders, has taken charge of this upcoming project .

The directors wanted to give this live action movie a bit more realistic turn, but with the cost of losing its essence?

Critics as well as fans pointed out that the character seems too grown up and prepared more as a Gladiator rather than a reluctant Viking teenager.

But according to the sources, “Toothless” the dragon hasn’t gone through any major changes, they kept it as adorable and cartoonish as possible.

Moreover, this live action adaptation is aiming towards realism, so in the process it might take away the heart and humour that made the original so magical.

While the live action has the chance to be a successful adaptation, this first look at Hiccup feels like a missed opportunity to bring back the old essence leaving fans questioning if the magic of Berk can truly be renewed in this film.

“How to Train Your Dragon” is set to be released in theatres on June 13th, 2025.
