Hey, we are back again. After a two week break, the “Hidden Gems” list has returned and this time, surprisingly, we have chosen a Hollywood feature film, ‘Paddleton‘. However, this Mark Duplass and Ray Romano starring feature film isn’t that well known but appreciated by critics, which is perfect for this list. Mark Duplass and Alex Lehmann wrote the screenplay for ‘Paddleton’, with the latter directing the feature film.
So, what is ‘Paddleton’? Essentially, the film is about two men, who are each other’s only friend who try to explore their friendship through a road trip. They meet new people and learn more about themselves and each other than they thought was possible. All-in-all, a pretty good buddy film… Oh! And the younger man among them has been diagnosed with cancer and been given only six months to live.
And… That just might crash your interest. Yet, another film about two close friends, with one diagnosed with cancer and ready to move on, while the other one wants their friend to keep fighting. Along the way, they learn valuable life lessons. While the aforementioned movie template has been explored quite a bit already, this film already makes a major change – they are not really close friends (at least not from the start). They don’t really have anybody else in their lives and these two neighbours gravitated to each other through some common interests. The film talks about a lot of other important topics as well such as depression, learning to move on and accepting that some things cannot be changed. Of course, there are many other things that makes this film great, so did you want to know more about it, watch it yourselves.
‘Paddleton’ is available for streaming on Netflix, so check it out. The trailer for the same can be viewed below:
