Yesterday, the makers of the Hindi remake of the widely acclaimed 2017 Tamil action thriller movie ‘Vikram Vedha’ had revealed its teaser trailer, which has been trending big time on social media platforms. ‘Vikram Vedha’ is all set for its grand theatrical release on 30th September. Like the parent film, the remake bearing the same name is also being helmed by the husband-wife writer-director duo Pushkar-Gayathri.
Just after the teaser dropped, movie buffs were quick to compare the film’s lead actors Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan with the parent film’s lead duo Vijay Sethupathi and R. Madhavan. Some of them opined about how the remake might turn out to be even better and grander than the parent film. However, that remains to be seen.
Having said that, all those Twitter talks regarding the 2017 ‘Vikram Vedha’ vis-à-vis the forthcoming remake missed one very important thing about the latter. A factor which sets the remake apart from the parent film, hopefully in a good way. And that X-factor about the ‘Vikram Vedha’ remake is the supremely talented filmmaker Neeraj Pandey, who has directed some really fine films and shows like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby’, ‘Special OPS’ and ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, etc.
Although Neeraj Pandey is not directing the ‘Vikram Vedha’ remake as the original film’s director duo Pushkar-Gayathri are helming it, the maverick filmmaker was thoroughly involved with the remake as a creative producer. Nevertheless, the association of a filmmaker of Neeraj Pandey’s calibre is bound to produce some creative fireworks for the ‘Vikram Vedha’ Hindi remake as he is expected to have added something new and unique to the film compared to the original.
Inspired by the immensely popular Indian folktale Vikram-Betaal, the parent film ‘Vikram Vedha’ revolves around the two titular characters – a tough and upright police officer Vikram (originally essayed by Madhavan) and a dreaded gangster Vedha (played by Vijay Sethupathi). The story starts off with Vedha voluntarily surrendering himself to the cops. The goings-on take an interesting turn when Vedha begins to play mind games with Vikram by narrating three different stories that makes the cop rethink the concept of good and evil.
In the ‘Vikram Vedha’ Hindi remake, Hrithik Roshan has stepped into the shoes of the gangster Vedha while Saif Ali Khan is portraying the role of the upright cop Vikram. After completing its theatrical run, the film will start streaming on the Voot Select OTT platform. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the same.
