The series spanning two seasons of five episodes each narrating extraordinary tales of an ordinary North Indian small-town family. 4. Aspirants (Streaming on YouTube)
‘Aspirants’ revolves around the relationship between three friends Abhilash (Naveen Kasturia), SK (Abhilash Thapliyal), and Guri (Shivankit Singh Parihar). Their story is narrated in two timelines. One timeline follows the three friends and their relationships while toiling to crack the grueling UPSC exam. The other timeline takes us back to the present where one of the friends is now an IAS officer, but their camaraderie has for some reason taken a hit. A gem of a show and, needless to say, a must watch.
3. Kota Factory (Streaming on TVFPlay)
What the more recent show ‘Aspirants’ was to IAS aspirants, ‘Kota Factory’ is a show that narrates the aspirations and struggles of IIT-JEE aspirants. Instead of Aspirants’ Old Rajinder Nagar area, the goings on in ‘Kota Factory’ take the viewers near the banks of the Chambal River in the bustling Rajasthani city – Kota.
The story is told from the perspective of an IIT aspirant named Vaibhav (Mayur More) and transports us to the world of coaching centers, the student life at Kota, mess food, student-teacher bonding, and innocent romantic rendezvous. The show was touted as the first black-and-white web series, which gave the story a distinctive texture.
2. TVF Pitchers (Streaming on MX Player)
When the regional manager of a company (Naveen Kasturia) resigns after being let down for not being made the project leader, he finds it to be a blessing in disguise as he realizes that he is not made for a regular nine to five desk job. So he, along with Jitu (Jitendra Kumar), Yogi (Arunabh Kumar), and Mandal (Abhay Mahajan) decide to start their own company.
The highly acclaimed show created by Arunabh Kumar has achieved a cult following after its release.
1. Scam 1992 (Streaming on SonyLIV)
Hansal Mehta’s financial thriller ‘Scam 1992’ is undoubtedly one of the best Indian Television shows. The series is based on the infamous 1992 Stock Market Scam in which stockbroker Harshad Mehta reportedly played an important role. It follows the early days of Harshad Mehta when his whole family lived in just one room to his stint as a jobber at the Bombay Stock Exchange to his phenomenal rise as the Big Bull of the stock market.
The series concurrently explores how the financial journalist Sucheta Dalal exposed the mammoth financial scam that eventually uncovered the loopholes in the financial system that caused massive losses to the Indian investors.
