Shia LaBeouf’s Honey Boy will finally premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 8th, after making us wait for almost seven months for its release. Honey Boy had released on Prime Video in America, and in several other markets, long back on 7th February 2020. Indian audiences have had to wait so long for its release, but fear not, the wait will certainly be worth it.
Shia LeBeouf’s critically and commercially acclaimed semi-autobiographical movie, Honey Boy is a sensitive portrayal of a child star who goes through hell at the hands of an abusive father. The childhood abuse leads to his descent into harmful addictions and behavioural disorders at the age of 22. The troubled star is diagnosed with PTSD and has to undergo intensive rehab. The screenplay, written by LaBeouf himself, is based on the actor’s own growing up years and early stardom, before he gave it all up to go into rehab.
Fans and followers of Shia LaBeouf will of course be familiar with the actor’s struggle with substance abuse and endless rehab stints. Now, they will also get to know and understand the reason behind the actor’s seeming waywardness.
Interestingly, Shia LaBeouf himself plays the role of the unhinged, aggressive father in the movie, a character modelled after his own abusive father. It is a moving piece of cinematic excellence, one that has garnered critical and commercial acclaim from critics and audiences across the world.
Shia LaBeouf is a popular actor in the country, courtesy his appearance in three Transformers movies. Now that Honey Boy releases in India on Amazon Prime Video on 8th July, we will finally get to enjoy and savour the spectacular movie.
