Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Doctor G’ hit theatres across India on October 14. Most critics and audiences appreciated the concept of the film, as well as the performances of the pivotal actors in the film. Despite this, ‘Doctor G’ did average business at the box office, not good enough to be declared a hit. Still, it is one of the most awaited Hindi films on OTT for digital viewers who didn’t catch ‘Doctor G’ in the theatres.
Now we have confirmed information on the ‘Doctor G’ OTT release date and OTT platform it will stream on. The post-theatrical streaming rights of ‘Doctor G’ have been bought by streaming giant Netflix. Hence, the film will only stream on Netflix, and on no other OTT platform. As for the OTT release date of ‘Doctor G’, the film will premiere on Netflix on December 11, which is the coming Sunday.
‘Doctor G’ stars Ayushmann Khurana, Rakul Preet Singh, Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha in pivotal roles. The film centres on a young medical student, Uday Gupta (Ayushmann Khurrana), who is forced to opt for gynecology, when he actually wants to study orthopaedics. He is even more ruffled when he finds that he’s the lone male student in the gynaecology department. To add to his troubles, he has a strict disciplinarian (Shefali Shah) as his supervising teacher.
The official synopsis of ‘Doctor G’ reads, “Uday Gupta finds himself the lone male student in the gynecology department and his hesitancy leads to chaos, confusion, comedy and, eventually, great camaraderie with his female classmates.”
‘Doctor G’ is directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, in her directorial debut. It is written by Saurabh Bharat, Sumit Saxena, Vishal Wagh, and Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Junglee Pictures.
