Hindi film The Vaccine War is adapted from The book “Going Viral”, written by Prof Balram Bhargava, of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The story of the movie is set in the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, and shows how Indian scientists developed Covaxin, India’s very own ingenious vaccine against the virus. The narrative depicts the scientists’ race against time to create the vaccine, how they overcame criticisms and discourse against the vaccine and came out successful.
The Vaccine War stars Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Anupam Kher, Girija Oak, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Sapthami Gowda, and Mohan Kapur in pivotal roles. It is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Pallavi Joshi.
