Hirokaju’s Korean Film ‘Broker’ To Have Theatrical Release In India

South Korean Drama ‘Broker’ is going to have a theatrical release in India on the 20th of January. ‘Broker’ is written and directed by Japanese filmmaker Hirokaju Kore-eda and stars well known Korean actor Song Kang-ho in the lead role. Additional cast includes actors like Gang Dong-won, Bae Doona, Lee Ji-eun and Lee Joo-young.

The film was released in South Korea on 8th of June of 2022 and was premiered in the Cannes Film Festival on May 26th. Filmmaker Hirokaju is well known for his film ‘Shoplifters’. He has made a pretty good fanbase in India with his film.

‘Broker’ tells the story of Ha Sang-hyeon who owns a laundry and works as a volunteer in a local charch. He has a friend who works in that charch too and they have a very secret illegal business going on between them. They steal the babies that are left in front of the charch door and sell them in the black adoption market, while Sang’s friend deletes the cctv footages. But something different happens when a mother changes her mind and comes back to the charch. She goes on a trip to see the potential parents of the baby and on the other hand two detective are working on a case of stole babies.

The beautiful cinematography is handled by Hong Kyung-pyo and the music composed by Jung Jae-il. Song Kang-ho won the best actor award for his role in Broker at the Cannes Film Festival.

It is a very good opportunity for Indians to witness the wonderful film in theaters. If you are a fan of Koream films, you should definitely watch it after it has its release on the 20th of January.
