Hit Apple TV Series ‘Silo’ Gets Season 2 Renewal Ahead Of S1 Finale

Apple TV Plus has handed a Season 2 renewal to its breakout hit series ‘Silo’, even before the season finale of the series. The dystopian sci-fi series has been winning accolades all around, with audiences loving the engrossing, atmospheric, well-made show on Apple TV Plus. The streaming platform made the announcement on Wednesday morning, even as the Rebecca Ferguson led series gears up to stream its finale episode at the end of June.

‘Silo’ has many firsts to its credits. It debuted as the No. 1 drama on Nielsen, a first for Apple TV+. Its viewership has grown by double digits since its May 5 premiere. As per Parrot Analytics, ‘Silo’ was the most in-demand breakout show for the week of May 27-June 2, surpassing competition with a demand that was 24.4 times that of the average series.

The sci-fi thriller has garnered consistently high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, both from audiences as well as from critics. Audiences have tuned in to Apple TV Plus week after week, to catch the new episode of ‘Silo’, which follows a one-episode per week format, like every Apple TV Plus series. With so much going for it, a Season 2 renewal for Silo at Apple TV Plus is a foregone conclusion.

The series is based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of post-apocalyptic science fiction books, collectively called as Silo. The series stars Rebecca Ferguson in the lead, who is also the executive producer of Silo. The dystopian drama centres on the last 10,000 people on earth, who live in a silo a mile underground to protect themselves from the toxic world outside. Rebecca Ferguson plays Juliette, an engineer who digs deeper into the murder of a loved one, only to stumble onto a mystery that is more sinister than she could have imagined.

The cast also includes Common, Rashida Jones, Tim Robbins, David Oyelowo, Harriet Walter, Avi Nash and Chinaza Uche, among others. Silo is created by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Graham Yost. He is also the showrunner for the series.
