Hoichoi has made a quite good list of literary adaptations in the last few years. With Feluda, Byomkesh, Ekenbabu and Bhaduri Moshai the works have been appreciated by audiences and become popular too.
But one more popular character seems to be quite ignored now. ‘Taranath Tantrik’ is one of the most popular literary characters in contemporary times and there are TV shows about him, audio stories and even a series on AddaTimes. The TV soap had none other than Tota Roychowdhury in the leading role. But Hoichoi’s reluctance in adapting Taranath Tantrik seems strange.
The stories are multi-dimensional and there is no lack of interesting and unique plots. The various stories can even be executed with a very short budget. This is the reason why the TV show was such a big hit. But when Hoichoi does it, there are chances that it gets bigger and better. The AddaTimes show directed by Q was not up to the expectations of audiences. After the Bhaduri Moshai series by Parambrata Chattopadhyay, it looks like a Taranath Tantrik show will work out great on the platform.
Taranath Tantrik is such an iconic character, him having no representation on Bengali OTT is a difficult thing to digest. Hoichoi Should really start working on it and it would not be a loss for them.
