Hollywood biggies are gearing up for a brand new musical drama. The upcoming musical drama film will be inspired by the works of renowned composer George Gershwin. The composer who was also a known painter and pianist composed some of the best classics that have went on to inspire even more work through out the years.
The upcoming musical film drama is all set to be produced by Martin Scorsese and Irwin Winkler. John Carney is set to direct the movie. The movie has been titled “Fascinating Rhythm” which itself is the name of one George Gershwin’s composition. John Carney is not only directing the movie but is also co-writing the movie with Chris Cluess. John Carney is the man behind movies like “Once” and “Sing Street” and his most recent one is Amazon’s “Modern Love”.
The movie though is inspired by George Gershwin; it won’t be a biopic of any sorts. They are taking inspiration from his work and remaking it into a brand new movie. The makers have described the movie as- “a young woman’s magical journey through past and present New York City, inspired by the life and music of American composer George Gershwin.” This for now stands as the official description of the upcoming movie.
It is being stated that the Gershwin Estate is on board to produce the upcoming movie. This must be a dream come true for Scorsese, as he had been eyeing to make something based on Gershwin’s life. Back in 1993, Scorsese was onboard and almost ready to make a biopic on the great composer but due to various issues, it never came through and also after lot of efforts and work were put in, the project never got a greenlight from Warner Bros. In 2010, Steven Spielberg tried for a biopic based on the composer’s life, but that too never came out.
Everyone knows the team of Scorsese and Winkler is a legendary one. They have produced and created various movies together over the years like “Goodfellas”, “Raging Bull”, “Silence” and the very recent “The Irishman”. Besides all these, Winkler have also produced movies for the Rocky and Creed franchises.
With such people on board and with the works inspired by such a great composer himself, the movie should most definitely be something that will enter the list of great creations.
