Veteran Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has signed up to play the lead protagonist in the new Netflix docuseries, The Staircase.
The series is based on the sensational murder charge against American novelist Michael Peterson, who was accused of murdering his wife Kathleen Peterson in 2001. Ford will play the role of Michael Peterson in the series.
The show is to be produced by Annapurna TV. It is based on a 2004 documentary series on the murder case. The documentary too streams on Netflix.
American novelist Michael Peterson, 76, had initially claimed that his wife Kathleen died after falling from stairs. But the police suspected otherwise, and in 2003, Peterson was convicted for the murder of his wife. He was subsequently released in 2017, after he submitted an Alford plea for voluntary manslaughter.
Harrison Ford is also the executive producer of The Staircase. Antonio Campos has written its screenplay, along with being the co-executive producer of the show.
The Staircase is Harrison Ford’s first foray into the digital streaming space.
