On this day last year, Kannada film ‘KGF Chapter 2’ hit theatres across India. And it became an instant blockbuster. Now, one year later, creators of the KGF film franchise, Hombale Films have released a monster cut of Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2, helping fans relive all the moments from the movie that have made it so iconic.
The monster cut of KGF Chapter 2, released by Hombale Films this morning, is a treat to watch by itself. But more than that, it is extremely special for fans because of the massive hint it gives for KGF Chapter 3, which will be the next film in the film franchise. And the hints are all there – in the form of a question mark turning into a red-tinged ‘3’; talk of “a promise was made – that promise will be kept” and such like. Most significantly, the 2-minute video asks a very important question – “Where was Rocky from 1978 – 1981?”
Going by the hints given in the KGF Chapter 2 one-year celebration video, looks like KGF Chapter 3 could be a prequel of sorts to the events of KGF Chapter 2, detailing Rocky’s (Yash) life in the three intervening years of 1978 – 1981. Whatever be the story, KGF Chapter 3 is happening in the near future – that’s a certainty.
Interestingly, director Prashanth Neel had hinted in an interview in January 2023, that KGF star Yash might be replaced in KGF Chapter 3, if it does come about. Of course, it is just conjecture at this stage, and no one can be certain what will happen when KGF Chapter 3 does go on floors, which is likely to happen only in 2025.
