Rohit Shetty has brought Deepika Padukone on board for his upcoming film ‘Singham Again’, third instalment of the filmmaker’s ‘Singham’ franchise. Kajal Aggarwal and Kareena Kapoor Khan have earlier starred in ‘Singham’ and ‘Singham Returns’ respectively.
But it’s different this time as Deepika Padukone will herself play the role of a cop in ‘Singham Again’. This will make her the first female actress to play the role of a police officer in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe that has been dominated by actors like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh.
Deepika Padukone has earlier worked with Rohit Shetty in ‘Chennai Express’ and will also be seen in a cameo role in his upcoming film ‘Cirkus’.
‘Singham Again’ is the third film in the franchise post ‘Singham’ (2011) and ‘Singham Returns’ (2014). Both the previous films were a massive box office blockbuster and the same is expected from this upcoming sequel.
‘Singham’ franchise is part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe that includes films, web series, animated series and games. Other films of this universe include Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Simmba’ and Akshay Kumar led ‘Suryavanshi’ while the web series is an upcoming Amazon Prime Video original ‘Indian Police Force’ starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi.
