HOT NEWS! Noomi Rapace Returns To Roots With Netflix’s ‘Black Crab’

Netflix is preparing to develop Jerker Virdborg’s acclaimed novel ‘Black Crab’ into a feature film with Noomi Rapace in the lead. ‘Black Crab’ will mark Rapace’s return not only to Scandinavia but also her native country Sweden after a decade of working abroad.

As per Netflix, “Black Crab is a Scandinavian action thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world torn apart by climate change and war. During an endless winter, six soldiers are sent on a dangerous mission across the frozen sea to transport a package that could finally end the war. Equipped with ice skates, unaware of what they’re carrying, or who they can trust, the mission challenges their beliefs and forces them to ask: what are they willing to sacrifice for their own survival?”

‘Black Crab’ will be directed by award-winning Adam Berg, for which he has created an imaginative script based on Virdborg’s novel of the same name. It will be Berg’s first full length feature film as director and writer. His previous works include Philips “Carousel” winner of Grand Prix in Cannes, Assassin Creed “Black Flag” and Happiness “All Apologies”.

Noomi Rapace who will play the lead in Netflix’s ‘Black Crab’ is known for work in “films and series such as ‘Prometheus’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘What Happened to Monday’ as well as independent films ‘Daisy Diamond’ and ‘Beyond’. She can currently be seen in ‘The Secrets We Keep’ and will be seen in ‘Lamb’, releasing 2021.”

‘Black Crab’ is being produced by Mattias Montero via Indio alongside Malin Idevall. While the exact release dates are yet to be announced, ‘Black Crab’ will premiere globally on Netflix sometime in 2022.
