HOTD Season 2: What Does Rhaenys’ Death Mean For The Blacks?

Well, Rhaenys’ death was not on the cards of many viewers while watching Episode 4 of House of the Dragon Season 2. Oops! Sorry for the spoiler! Really Sorry! Diehard HOTD fans know that her demise is a substantial loss for the Blacks against their ongoing war with the Greens.

Episode 4 featured an epic clash between three dragons. Rhaenys arrives at Rook’s Rest on the back of Meleys to take down Criston Cole. Out of nowhere, we see Aemond and Vhagar emerging out of the shadows. Aegon, riding on Sunfyre, arrives at the scene as well. Rhaenys decides to take out Sunfyre first, given he’s smaller in size and much easier to take down. But thanks to Vhagar, Aemond successfully slaughters both Sunfyre and Meleys. He did it to kill two birds with one stone. Removing Aegon from his path would have made it easy for Aemond to get the Iron Throne.

Though Aegon’s fate remains unclear for now, fans will likely learn more in Episode 5. Rhaenys’ death, confirmed by Eve Best herself, is a significant blow to the Blacks. Her impressive political astuteness, expertise in war, and phenomenal dragon-riding skills made her invaluable. Unlike some of the younger characters, Rhaenys possessed a cool head and a strategic mind, honed by years of experience in the political game. Her loss may deeply impact Rhaenyra, despite their occasional differences. Rhaenys remained a true supporter of her niece.

Episode 4 delivered major blows to both sides. Rhaenys’ death is confirmed, but Aegon’s fate remains shrouded in mystery. Will he survive the dragon clash? Find out in Episode 5 of House of the Dragon Season 2. Stream all episodes on JioCinema. Stay tuned for more updates.
