Disney Plus Hotstar recently revealed the trailer and release date for its upcoming Telugu series ‘Vadhuvu’. The suspense and mystery series will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on 8th December, 2023, in multiple Indian languages such as the original Telugu, along with Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi dubs.
For those who don’t know, Telugu term ‘Vadhuvu’ means ‘Bride’ in English. The title is apt as the Telugu series centres on the character of lead actress Avika Gor, whose story begins as she steps into the family as a new bride. Nandu, Ali Reza, Mounika, Madhavi Prasad, Amma Ramesh, K L K Mani, Soujas, Surabhi Padmaja and Deepthi form the rest of the cast.
Interestingly, ‘Vadhuvu’ is the official Telugu remake of a well-received 2022 series – the Bengali series ‘Indu’, which premiered on exclusive Bengali streaming platform, Hoichoi TV. For this reason, Hoichoi owners Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni are the producers of Vadhuvu. Ishaa Saha plays the titular character of Indu in the Bengali series. Avika Gor’s character is also named Indu in ‘Vadhuvu’.
The story of Vadhuvu centres on Indu, who is shooed into a hasty marriage with a man she doesn’t know much about. Strange happenings from her wedding day itself make it clear to her that someone doesn’t want her marriage to flourish. As the strange incidents gradually become even more eerie, Indu is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. A murder adds to the enigma of the story.
Krishna Poluru has directed Vadhuvu, along with co-director NK Ram. Telugu series ‘Vadhuvu’ premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar on 8th December 2023. Have a look at the trailer of the series –
