It seems like Netflix has found another way to keep things going: re-releasing old popular TV shows to gain more views – a simple yet quite effective strategy. This strategy has significantly enhanced viewership on the streaming platform in the last 2-3 years. How can we forget Suits (2011-19) here? The hit legal drama series found a new life on Netflix, gaining over 57.7 billion minutes of viewing from the platform’s subscribers last year. Joining Suits on the list, we now have Fox’s House MD, simply known as House, starring Hugh Laurie.
House MD revolves around Dr. Gregory House, a brilliant but eccentric and misanthropic diagnostician. We see the protagonist, along with his team, solving puzzling and mysterious medical cases at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. However, House often finds himself in problematic situations due to his unconventional methods of treating his patients, causing him to struggle frequently with ethical norms and hospital protocols.
The Hugh Laurie starrer has now found a place on Netflix’s Global Top 10 (series) list. It has gained the seventh spot, with over 36.5 million hours of viewing and more than 2.3 million views.
Critical reception towards House MD has been mostly positive, with special praise directed at Laurie’s take on the protagonist. Apart from the leading man, the series has talents like Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, Robert Sean Leonard, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, Kal Penn, Olivia Wilde, and more. It ran from November 2004 to May 2012, consisting of eight seasons and 177 episodes. You can watch it now on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
