HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon‘ is already a pop culture sensation much like its predecessor. Whatever social media profile is opened, it’s all people can talk about. The show’s first episode set new records for HBO and HBO Max and was the largest single-day viewership for a series debut in the service’s history.
Two actors who’ve received praise for their performances are Milly Alcock & Emily Carey who play princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Lady Alicent Hightower respectively. Milly has become a fan favorite and the audience seems to be warming up to Emily’s character since the last episode. However, these talented actors may not be staying on the show for long.
If reports are to be believed, the next episode (Episode 5) will mark the final appearances of Milly Alcock & Emily Carey. The series has already introduced a lot of time lapses in between the four released episodes and we may be bidding these characters’ young versions and their actors adieu.
That being said, this may not be the last time we may see them on-screen. Reportedly, there have been ‘discussions’ about them potentially coming back for S2, maybe minimally for flashbacks. If these rumors are true, they will be replaced with Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke playing Rhaenyra and Alicent post the time skip.
‘House of the Dragon’ is a prequel to HBO’s own ‘Game of Thrones’, a series that changed TV forever with its release in 2011. Few series have tasted success like GOT, and it became an immediate cultural phenomenon. Though the expectations for HOTD were huge, the series did not disappoint. The latest episode’s release crashed Disney+ Hotstar on which the series streams in India.
‘House of the Dragon’ has been received well by critics and audiences alike. The series is a raging success and has been renewed for a second season after the release of its first episode. HOTD episodes will stream every Monday at 6:30 am IST (Indian Standard Time) on Disney+ Hotstar.
