HBO has unveiled the new first-look posters of House of the Dragon Season 2, starring Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke as Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower, respectively.
The first-look posters tease the upcoming war between Rhaenyra and Alicent. Given how Season 1 culminated, both women demand “fire to fire” and “blood with blood” in the latest first-look posters.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood novel, House of the Dragon takes place nearly 200 years before the events of HBO’s Game of Thrones and 100 years after the Targaryens unite the Seven Kingdoms. Season 1 laid the foundation of the “Dance of the Dragons”, a deadly and destructive war of succession that resulted in House Targaryen’s decline. King Viserys chose Rhaenyra as his heir to the Iron Throne. However, Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and his followers weakened the Targaryens from the inside and usurped the Throne for Aegon II Targaryen, Otto’s grandson, and Alicent’s son.
Rhaenyra will look to burn the Hightowers for good after losing her son, Lucerys, to Vhagar, Aemond Targaryen’s dragon. In the first season, Aemond lost control of Vhagar, which resulted in Lucerys’ death.
In addition to Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, House of the Dragon Season 2 will also feature talents like Eve Best, Matt Smith, Steve Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, Phoebe Campbell, Bethany Antonia, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, Phia Saban, Freddie Fox, Gayle Rankin, and more. Season 2 is slated for a summer 2024 release. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out some other posters below!
