House of the Dragon Season 2 To Continue Filming Amid SAG-AFTRA Strike

According to the latest report from Variety, HBO’s House of the Dragon Season 2 can continue filming in the United Kingdom amidst the SAG-AFTRA strike.

The U.S. actors union declared a strike on Thursday as it failed to finalise a satisfactory deal with the AMPTP. However, this strike will not affect the production of Season 2 of the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel.

Most of the show’s cast are U.K. actors who are a member of Equity, the local union. This scenario allows these actors to continue their work because Equity members are not legally allowed to participate in the strike of the U.S. actors union.

Equity shared the following message with its 47,000 members shortly after the SAG-AFTRA members announced a strike.

“A performer joining the strike (or refusing to cross a picket line) in the U.K. will have no protection against being dismissed or sued for breach of contract by the producer or the engager. Likewise, if Equity encourages anyone to join the strike or not cross a picket line, Equity itself will be acting unlawfully and hence liable for damages or an injunction.”

It means that House of the Dragon Season 2 will not get delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. The filming for the second season is currently going on at Warner Bros’ Leavesden Studios.

House of the Dragon received eight Emmy nominations on Wednesday. Created by the duo of Ryan Condal and George R. R. Martin, the show stars Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, Olivia Cooke, and many more talents. Stream Season 1 on Jio Cinema. Stay tuned for more updates.
