The Game of Thrones universe is expanding with “House of the Dragon” gearing up for its second season. HBO network chief Casey Bloys participated in a recent press conference, generating significant fan excitement.

In “House of the Dragon,” inspired by George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” we explore the history of the Targaryen dynasty in the fictional continent of Westeros. This narrative unfolds nearly two centuries before the events in “Game of Thrones” and about a century after the Targaryens united the Seven Kingdoms.
Production of ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 commenced at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios on April 11. Remarkably, it remained unaffected by ongoing strikes since scripts were already in place. Showrunner Ryan Condal continued in a producing role, with actors contracted through the UK guild Equity, not SAG-AFTRA.
HBO and Max chairman/CEO Bloys revealed the “House of the Dragon” Season 2 premiere window as they are targeting a summer release. During the press event, Bloys also issued an apology for his use of fake Twitter accounts to taunt TV critics, as disclosed in a recent Rolling Stone report.
Additionally, Bloys shared that the “Game of Thrones” spinoff, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” is scheduled to begin filming next spring, once the strike concludes.
