Gehraiyaan is a global sensation now. The movie is not only trending at number 1 in India but also finding a place in the USA, Russia, Singapore and more. The data has been confirmed by Karan Johar himself and it was completely unexpected at least for the general audience.
Without taking a name, even Kangana Ranaut took a dig at the film and she was joined by a lot of Twitteratis who were calling for the film’s boycott as they believed it to be a soft-porn.

This is a great response given that the film was released just after Chiyaan Vikram’s Mahaan. Needless to say, Mahaan had a far greater buzz still Gehraiyaan emerged as a sleeper winner.

There are three Cs that made the film stand out. They are Content, Controversy and Cast.
Content
The film is absolutely great when it comes to content. It talks about childhood trauma, emotions, adultery and even acceptance. It means that the film talks about a lot of factors that are not necessarily a part of a conventional love triangle or adultery film.
The movie is filled with things that were enough to attract all the hardcore cinephiles to watch the film.
Controversy
Not all people watch a film because of it’s content. Some watch a movie solely due to entertainment. The widespread controversy regarding the film triggered a lot of people to see the film.
There are not much scenes that are intimate but all of them were stuffed in trailer and songs. The film has only a little bit of steamy scenes and the brilliant marketing strategy pictured the film filled with intimacy. Thus not only cinephiles, but pleasure seekers also raced towards watching the film.
Cast
The cast of the film was mostly revolving around Deepika Padukone. But all of them especially Naseeruddin Shah in a small role gave a memorable peformance. Deepika Padukone gave an impeccable performance and the praises revolving around her portrayal was very proinent in all the reviews of the film.
And let’s not forget that Deepika is a big star and she has the capability to pull crowd towards her film.
