If you keep yourself updated about Hollywood developments then you must have across the insanely buzzy film The Killer. It is a David Fincher film and was first screened at the Venice Film Festival.
Well, the celebrated filmmaker’s brainchild received a standing ovation at the festival. No wonder Fincher was surprised how everyone gave a standing ovation to The Killer. Perhaps the audience was standing in the respect of Fincher and not his latest film. But, mistakes, misunderstandings and misconceptions…
No disrespect to David Fincher but The Killer is an average film according to the standards set by Fincher himself. The repetitive monologue, lack of shock factor and haphazard screenplay act as a turn-off.
But as we always say, no filmmaker can make a streak of great films. And if you see a significant streak forming then we must rethink our very idea of a great film. Obviously, we don’t expect the same from M Night Shyamalan that we do from Fincher…
To put it simply, The Killer is a good film but it is not something extraordinary from Fincher’s level.
But, the biggest mockery should be credited to the Hollywood portals. After hyping the film so much, the audience found it average at best. The reactions are kinda mid and almost all reactions say that it could be far better.
Long story short, it is important to introspect how a hyped film came out to be so average.
