Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 is still #1 on Netflix’s Top 10 shows. That was expected considering the mammoth fandom this series has. However, the Top 10 movie section for May 30-June 5 has surprised everyone. Call it a miracle or anything but Interceptor is now the #1 movie on the streaming giant. And people just have one question about this scenario: How the hell did this happen? Let’s find out!
Interceptor has a rating of 44% on Rotten Tomatoes, a score of 51 on Metacritic, and 4.4/10 on IMDb. All these ratings show that the latest Netflix action project is nothing but a mess. The leading lady, Elsa Pataky, plays Colonel Collins in this one. She has no alternative but to utilise her combat skills and military training to save one of the two interceptor launch sites that she commands from a deadly terrorist attack.
Interceptor kind of reminds us of the brainless action flicks of the 80s-90s. Even Pataky and the blend of social issues and modern gender politics are not enough to save this Matthew Reilly’s project. And do not get us started on its lame fight sequences. Still, it ranks #1 on Netflix‘s Top 10 list.
Many rumours have surfaced claiming that Pataky’s real-life husband, Chris Hemsworth, gifted ‘Interceptor’ to his wife to save her acting career. Yes, the on-screen Thor has also served as a producer here. He even appears in the film through a cameo appearance. It seems like Hemsworth’s involvement has helped the movie in gaining global prominence.
We can also blame the Netflix viewers for this situation. A large portion of subscribers just does not care if a movie is good or bad as long as it is on the Top 10 list. They will watch it, bestowing that nonsensical project more viewing hours and making it a hit.
Apart from her Fast & Furious movies, we have not seen Elsa Pataky in other popular franchises. Additionally, she last starred in 12 Strong (2018) opposite guess who… Chris Hemsworth.
Interceptor is currently streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned for more updates.
