With Letitia Wright returning to shoot her remaining scenes in the upcoming Black Panther Wakanda Forever, several rumours have popped up regarding the debut of various prominent characters from Marvel comics in the movie. But the hottest rumour hints at the live-action debut of fan-favourite Namor in the forthcoming Black Panther follow-up. According to the latest reports, Tenoch Huerta is in talks to play the Sub-Mariner of the kingdom Atlantis. How will he shape up the Black Panther sequel? Let’s find out!
Several reports have claimed that the impending Black Panther 2 will serve as a proper introduction for Namor. Like what MCU did with Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War. T’Challa’s intro in the third Captain America instalment connected well with the MCU fanbase. It also resulted in generating more hype for his solo movie in 2017. And some reports have stated that Kevin Feige and his team is showing interest in developing a show strictly based on Namor. If this happens, then the Black Panther sequel may bestow a perfect opportunity for Namor to establish a strong connection with the fans.
However, the executives at Marvel may face a bit of turbulence before moving ahead with the solo Namor project. At this point, Universal Studios owns the live-action rights of the character. In 2017, Joe Quesada claimed that Namor belonged to Marvel. This is how Feige responded to the entire situation: “It is. I think there’s a way to probably figure it out but it does have — it’s not as clean or clear as the majority of the other characters.”
Marvel doesn’t have the rights of Namor to this day. At least the executives have not affirmed it yet. But if that happens, we may witness a series about Namor in future.
Black Panther Wakanda Forever stars Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett. It will dispatch on November 11 this year.
