How ‘The Family Man’ Is Becoming India’s ‘Game Of Thrones’

By Binged Bureau - May 22, 2021 @ 07:05 pm

The Family Man‘. This 2019 released TV series quickly made it to everybody’s must watch list, within days after release. Expecting a sub-par Indian TV series, this Amazon Prime Video original sleeper hit instead changed the minds of many of what to expect from an Indian web series. The way this Indian web series grabbed the attention of viewers reminds us of an another truly brilliant TV series which released back in 2011, HBO‘s ‘Game of Thrones‘.

Now, ‘Game of Thrones’ like ‘Breaking Bad’ was a like wildfire that went around the globe and these two TV shows dominated ratings for the next decade. It is safe to say that no other TV series have managed to come close to what they achieved for and through television. Shows like ‘The Boys’, ‘Dark’ and a few others have come close, but never to the heights of ‘Game of Thrones’.

‘The Family Man’ will be the first Indian TV show competing for that (popularity) spot. Of course, the show isn’t as popular outside India, as it is inside it, but that is slowly changing. Well-thought-out writing, terrific acting and brilliant cinematography and set pieces have kept audiences engrossed to the screen and we expect the same to happen to Amazon Prime users abroad as well. The TV series however, can be called the Indian version of ‘Game of Thrones’ for its immense popularity and hype.

The latest season of ‘The Family Man’ will release in June of 2021. The trailer for the upcoming season came out a few days ago and predictably, everyone lost their minds. And similar to ‘Game of Thrones’ before it, the show has come under fire recently for its controversial representation of Tamils in the trailer (For GOT, there is a long list of sexual violence against women, over-nudity and too much unnecessary blood).

The first season of ‘The Family Man’ is running on Amazon Prime Video. The second season will premiere on the same OTT on June 4th 2021. Check out the trailer for the same down below:
