There is no doubt regarding the fact that Amazon Prime Video has struck the best chord with the Indian audience as they have become one of the leading entertainers in Indian market. This is mainly due to the fact that Prime Video has continuously been bringing hit shows which are being received well by the critics as well as the audience. But despite the success, the platform has been involved in too much controversies in the past few months.
The recent and most heated one being the political drama ‘Tandav’, which created a big dent in Prime Video’s brand value. There were several cases and FIR’s registered against the show as well as the platform for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. And recently with Mirzapur getting a notice from the Supreme Court for an FIR against the makers for maligning the image of the city.
Amazon Prime Video has gone through a lot in the past week and it seems that it has taken a toll over their management as well. There are a lot of content which is scheduled to arrive on Amazon Prime this year along with the most anticipated show – The Family Man Season 2. But with the controversies, the trailer release of TFM S2 was delayed from the earlier date (19th January) with no information of the next date.
And with the silent social media accounts of Prime Video India, it seems that the streaming giant is under the pump with the ongoing dispute. There has been no activity in Prime Video India’s social media account since 19th, which is unconventional as they are regularly chirpy on social media.
With little to no information about their upcoming shows, fans of these shows especially of ‘The Family Man’ are distressed and curious. It seems that Prime Video India is clearly rethinking it’s strategies on how to approach their content from here on.
It will be interesting to see how Prime Video India recuperates and gets back into the market. Their future project includes the espionage thriller – The Family Man Season 2 slated to arrive on 12th February 2021.
