Hridayam is finally making its way to OTT platforms for eager Indian audiences. The Malayalam coming-of-age feature will finally release on Disney+ Hotstar this weekend and it is expected to pull a lot of Malayalam viewers to the OTT platform. The official confirmation for this movie’s OTT release date happened last night when the Disney+ Hotstar Malayalam channel on YouTube dropped the trailer for Hridayam along with its expected release date. The film’s official OTT announcement came hours after many critics and media companies let it known that the movie will make 50 crores in theatres, around the globe, by this weekend. Still, with the Covid situation not getting any better in the country, many people will be glad that Hridayam will finally be available for viewing digitally, especially the ones who couldn’t leave due to Covid-19 restrictions (or didn’t want to leave either). While the film has gained a lot of popularity, even among those who haven’t watched the movie (thanks to the film’s excellent music composition), many Keralites have yet to watch the movie due to Covid-19. This OTT release will help these film lovers to finally see the movie on Disney+ Hotstar.
Hridayam is 2022’s first successful Malayalam movie of the year, so we expected the film to stay in theatres for some more time. Still, the movie is doing really well outside India, especially in countries that have little-to-low Covid restrictions despite the second wave of the coronavirus or the Omnicron variant. Since Disney+ Hotstar is only available in India, we expect Hridayam to continue running in these countries, at least, till the end of this month.
