Hugh Jackman’s Robin Hood Movie Gets Exciting Filming Update

After winning the hearts of the MCU fanbase and rocking the global box office with his sensational return as Logan in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ alongside the ever-charismatic Ryan Reynolds, Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman is now all set to star in director Michael Sarnoski’s upcoming Robin Hood movie, titled “The Death of Robin Hood”. Hailed as a “dark retelling” of the classic British folklore, Jackman’s version of the heroic protagonist will be seen as “a battle-worn loner” in the forthcoming movie.

In his recent interview with ScreenRant, Sarnoski gave an exciting update about the filming status of “The Death of Robin Hood”. The director will commence filming the project early next year. It means we are looking at a theatrical release window of late 2026 or early 2027. Plus, he guaranteed that Jackman’s version of Robin Hood would be substantially different from previous portrayals.

“We’re gonna get to see him [Jackman] do some pretty different, amazing stuff. He has quite a range with this character that he’s going to be exploring. I think people think of Robin is sort of like, he’s gonna steal from the rich, give to the poor. We have an idea for what that character is. But I think what he’s going to do with this character is going to go beyond what people are expecting, and I’m really excited to see to see him dive into it.”

We have honestly lost count of how many times Robin Hood has been adapted into different projects. We all know about his story of stealing from the rich and donating the stolen property to the poor. Talents such as the late Sean Connery, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, and Taron Egerton have played the legendary character and given something new to it every time. While the majority of their movies have primarily explored Robin Hood’s origins, Sarnoski’s movie seems to be focusing on his later years as a legendary but loner outlaw. This scenario will surely allow both Sarnoski and Jackman to give a new spin to the character in their movie. Stay tuned for more updates.
