Hotstar is the ultimate OTT platform in India if we consider the subscriber base. Having over 50 million subscribers in India, there is no platform which comes close to them.
We conducted a survey on Twitter asking about reasons people prefer Hotstar over other OTT platforms. A big reason for them was the availability of Hulu, HBO a lot of FX Shows with a plethora of foreign content.
Thankfully, Disney+Hotstar doesn’t charge any add-on subscription fee and overall they provide a great value for money.
Now, Hulu is taking brotherhood to whole another level. Now, Hotstar originals will be hosted in the USA via Hulu.
We noticed a small jerk between Hulu and Disney+Hotstar with Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas’s “Deep Water” when instead of Hotstar it streamed on Prime Video in India.
Does this step matter?

“Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” is indeed a popular talk show in India that streams on Disney+Hotstar.
One may love or hate Koffee With Karan but there is absolutely no celebrity talk show which matches that in terms of popularity. With Hulu hosting it in the USA, it will certainly help more Americans get exposed to Indian cinema.
The timing also matters as this time there are strong rumours of South Indian stars gracing the couch. There might be a chance that team RRR also gets invited. With the recent surge in popularity of RRR in America, a lot of people may get interested in what they have got to say.
The bottom line is, that everything indicates that Indian originals, stars and films will get great exposure amongst the American masses.
