Ever since it was first announced, Hulu Original “Nine Perfect Strangers” has racked up considerable interest among digital viewers in India. However, since Hulu does not operate in India, it led to concern whether we would ever be able to watch the show, or would it go unstreamed in India like scores of other buzzy titles. Well, let us tell you that you needn’t worry on that score. Amazon Prime Video is bringing Nine Perfect Strangers to Indian shores, and that too, just a day or two after its US premiere. The series will premiere in the US on 18th August, and it will drop on Amazon Prime Video in India on 20th August, which is just two days later.
Amazon Prime Video is fast becoming the go-to streaming platform for buzzy titles. While everyone expected Nine Perfect Strangers to stream on Disney Plus Hotstar in India, since The Walt Disney Co. is the owner of Hulu, Amazon Prime Video has sprung a surprise by acquiring the show for its Indian subscribers.
For those not in the know, Nine Perfect Strangers is a Hulu Original Series, an adaptation of the 2018 New York Times best-selling book of the same name, written by Liane Moriarty. Her earlier novel “Big Little Lies” was also adapted into a successful series at HBO. Nine Perfect Strangers has been created by David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth. The cast includes Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Asher Keddie, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone and Manny Jacinto.
Nicole Kidman stars as Masha, owner of a health and wellness retreat. Nine city-dwellers gather at the retreat to rediscover and rejuvenate themselves. But unbeknownst to them, they’re in for something else altogether. The cult-like retreat leaves them confused whether to immerse themselves into everything Masha has planned for them—or should they run whilst they still can.
