It’s been 18 years since the release of Hungama and since then, fans are waiting for a potential sequel for the film which gave a number of reasons for people to laugh over the years. Now, hold on to your hearts because we are about to give you some good news concerning the second installment of Hungama.
Yes, you guessed it right. Now it is official that Disney+ Hotstar will be releasing Hungama 2 on 23rd July on their platform. Though it was confirmed a couple of weeks back that Disney+ Hotstar has bought the OTT rights of the sequel aka the second installment of the Hungama series, fans were eagerly waiting for the release date to be revealed and now they will be extremely happy knowing that the film will be releasing within less than a month.
Now, whoever is not that familiar with Hungama, it’s a 2003 comedy film that almost changed the course of modern comedy films as it’s widely considered to be pathfinder and the signature of ace director Priyadarshan. The film was a milestone for comedy king Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tiku Talsania as Popat Seth, and Manoj Joshi as Inspector Waghmare. These four actors were the sources of the most fun sequences in Hungama. Though the film had lead actors like Aftab Shivdasani, Rimi Sen, and Akshay Khanna but Paresh Rawal’s Radheshyam Tiwari was as important as the lead characters along with Rajpal Yadav’s Raja in the 2003 film. Most importantly Hungama marked Rajpal Yadav’s prominence as a comic actor.
Now, as the second installment of the nostalgic comedy is returning to the screen, we also need to remember that Priyadarshan, one of the greatest comedy film directors of the country who created legendary comedy movies like Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, Dhol, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, will return after 7 years to Bollywood with Hungama 2 and he would surely want to leave his master craftsmanship with this highly anticipated comedy. Also, Shilpa Shetty who was last seen in Apne, returns with this film after 13 years to Hindi cinema. Apart from Shilpa Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tiku Talsania and Manoj Joshi, the film also make the debut of Meezaan Jaffrey, the son of another famous comedian Javed Jaffrey along with South Indian actress Pranitha Subhash, who is currently shooting for another Hindi film Bhuj: The Pride of India. Johnny Lever and Ashutosh Rana alongside Akshaye Khanna will appear for unknown roles in the film. The film will be produced by Ratan Jain of Venus Worldwide Entertainment.
Now, apart from the release date, to make things spicier, Disney+ Hotstar has also confirmed that the trailer of Hungama 2 will be released tomorrow. So folk, mark your calendars for the 1st of July because you are about to witness the glimpses of the second installment of one of the greatest comedy films ever made in the country.
