The official trailer for ‘I Killed Bapu’ is out now. The movie is a Zee5 original and will have its premiere on the 29th of September.
‘I Killed Bapu’ will chronicle the story of Nathuram Vinayak Godse, the controversial leader who Killed Mahatma Gandhi due to ideological differences. After Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Gandhi vs Godse- Ek Yudh’, ‘I Killed Bapu’ is going to be the second film on the same subject that is coming out this year. Whether there is a hidden political message or propaganda in the film, we will get to know only after watching it. There are already films on the Gandhi assasination that are even named similarly. ‘I Killed Gandhi’ by Ashok Tyagi came out in 2017 and ‘The Gandhi Murder’ in 2019.
The movie is directed by Hyder Kazmi. The trailer is average and not as intriguing as Rajkumar Santoshi’s Gandhi VS Godse was. The dialogues do not have anything special to them and the production design too looks pretty dull. There is nothing to attract audiences except for political retching. Godse again in his new avatar explains why Gandhi had always been his inspiration and how he has now let down all the Hindus of the country, justifying the assasination. There have been so many movies on this subject that it feels quite dull, while the makers have nothing extraordinary to provide through the storytelling.
However, only time will tell how the movie turns out to be. There are no big names attached to the film and no promotions as well. Only the trailer has been released and with such unfavorable promotional strategy, it is hard for the movie to taste some success.
