‘I Saw The Devil’ Director To Adapt ‘The Hole’ Into Korean-English Movie!

Kim Jee-Woon, the Korean filmmaker, is now working on an adaptation of the novel ‘The Hole’.

‘The Hole’ tells the story of a man named Ogi who was paralyzed after a ghastly accident that also took the life of his wife. He regains his consciousness after a prolonged period of coma and is neglected and left alone. He remembers his difficult relationship with his wife and lives his days in memories. The wife had all her dreams destroyed, but only the dream of gardening was ever fulfilled. But, one day, Ogi sees his mother-in-law destroying the wife’s carefully maintained garden, uprooting the trees and digging big holes. When some secrets are revealed, Ogi again has to reconsider his preconceived notions, and also has to escape from his mother-in-law’s house.

‘The Hole’ is written by the author Hye-Young Pyun and it is very popular among readers of horror and thrillers. It got the prestigious Shirley Jackson Award in 2017 and was awarded with multiple other honours. The plotline of the movie is just perfect for another big shot in the genre of Korean thrillers. Kim Jee-Woon has fascinated audiences with works like ‘The Good, the Bad, the Weird’, ‘A Bittersweet Life’, ‘Cobweb’, ‘The Last Stand’ etc. His ‘I Saw The Devil’ is considered a modern masterpiece and is appreciated by audiences all over the world.

The script is being written by Christopher Chen and it will have dialogues both in Korean and English, as it is being set in both Korea and the USA.
